Representative Alex Ikwechegh is under public scrutiny after social media personality Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, filed a petition against him, alleging abuse of power, assault, attempted murder, and threats to life. The petition, signed by prominent lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju, was prompted by a viral video showing the lawmaker in a heated altercation with Bolt driver Stephen Abuwatseya.
The video, which circulated widely online, captured Ikwechegh threatening to detain the driver in his generator house, with additional claims of slapping the driver and making threats to “make him disappear.” VeryDarkMan’s petition accuses the lawmaker of misconduct, calling for an official investigation into the incident.
The online backlash has led to a growing demand for accountability from Ikwechegh, with the public expressing concern over alleged misuse of power by elected officials. As the petition gains attention, many are awaiting a response from the lawmaker and any subsequent action from the relevant authorities.
