The 4th edition of the Nigeria Electronic Media Content Exhibitions and Awards (NEMCEA) 2025 concluded on 17th September 2025 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, leaving a significant mark on Nigeria’s media industry.

The event brought together top media professionals, content creators, and industry leaders to discuss the future of Nigeria’s electronic media landscape and give necessary insights to people who are aspiring to join the media space.

The event’s theme, “Sustainable Content Creation in a Fragmented Media Space,” addressed the different challenges of creating and monetizing high-quality content in the case where audiences are scattered across countless platforms and devices. Audiences were able to learn about these challenges, and how they can be managed, through the panel sessions and individual speakers.

Alayande Stephen, Project Director of NEMCEA 2025, said, “Fragmentation presents a challenge no doubt from the layman’s perspective, but more importantly, thinking deeper, we will realise that it offers a monumental opportunity for those who can adapt, innovate, and create content that truly connects. NEMCEA has grown to be the definitive platform for showcasing, networking, and celebrating this very spirit.”

There was a new addition to the program, which is the “AI in Production” masterclass. Interested participants were asked to register, and they learnt about the opportunities and ethical considerations of artificial intelligence in media production. The masterclass was led by award-winning AI strategist, John Orakwe.

Also, there was the DG’s roundtable. It was a first-of-its-kind gathering of regulatory heads and key industry players. Alayande Stephen also said, “We’re thrilled to present the inaugural Directors-General’s Roundtable. This is a first-of-its-kind gathering, bringing together the heads of regulatory bodies and key industry players to discuss the policies and initiatives that will foster growth and innovation.” They discussed policies and initiatives to foster growth and innovation within the electronic media ecosystem.

At the event, experts advised content creators to focus on building strong communities through well-researched and meaningful content, rather than chasing the numbers. Afanide Uwem, managing director and CEO of All Seasons Zenith, said, “For aspiring content creators, go for quality and not quantity.” They also emphasized the importance of authenticity, deep audience understanding, and consistency in creating sustainable and profitable media careers. Industry leaders said that brands do not go for short-term gains, so aspiring content creators should aim for meaningful engagements and long-term relationship with creators who produce high-quality content.

The need for deep research and understanding of target audiences was mentioned. Experts advised that creators should know their target audience before creating contents and knowing the channel they will use. They emphasized the importance of psychographics and pain points in content creation.

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) announced plans to introduce sophisticated audience measurement tools, allowing creators and advertisers to access precise data on viewership.

NEMCEA 2025 concluded with a message, which is that collaboration, sustainability, and adherence to regulatory standards are important for the growth and global dominance of Nigeria’s media industry. The event showcased the media space’s vast creative potential and resilience. With its focus on sustainable content creation, AI in production, and community building, NEMCEA 2025 has put Nigeria’s media industry in a place for continued growth and innovation.
