Edo State Postpones School Resumption

By Oyinkansayo Wole-Bodunde.

The Edo State Government has announced that schools will not reopen as planned due to the current fuel crisis and its impact on families.

The government has instructed all public and private schools to remain closed until further notice. This decision was made to ease the burden on parents and guardians who are struggling to cope with the recent fuel price hike.

The government is concerned about the safety and well-being of children during this challenging time. They have advised parents, guardians, and caregivers to keep a close eye on their children and wards, as the fuel price increase has caused tension and uncertainty.

The fuel price hike, which was recently announced by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has led to long queues at filling stations and a surge in prices. The company’s decision to increase the pump price of petrol to ₦855 per liter has had a serious effect, with independent marketers and black marketers selling fuel at even higher prices. This has made life difficult for many families, prompting the government to take action and postpone school resumption.
