A Nigerian rapper, Michael Ugochukwu Stephens, popularly known as Ruggedman, explained why he stopped supporting a difficult activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan.
He said he once liked VeryDarkMan’s work, especially when he exposed companies without NAFDAC numbers. However, VeryDarkMan started invading people’s private lives, especially women, which Ruggedman didn’t like.
Ruggedman believes VeryDarkMan’s approach to activism is not logical anymore and has become personal. He thinks VeryDarkMan should focus on the issues instead of attacking individuals.
Ruggedman cited an example where VeryDarkMan made a comment about Iyabo Ojo and her daughter, which led to a fallout. Ruggedman thinks VeryDarkMan’s approach is wrong and that’s why he stopped supporting him.
“I think what he said stemmed from what I think was Mohbad’s situation. Where he said the old retired actresses are trying to use the situation as clout. Everyone knows it was Iyabo Ojo and Tonto Dikeh,” ruggedman said.
