By Oyinkansayo Wole-Bodunde.

Adeola Omotoso, the daughter of Nollywood actress, Jumoke George, has shared her experience after being rescued by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM).

According to reports, Adeola had been missing for four years before her rescue.

In a recent interview with Biola Bayo on the “Talk to B” podcast, Adeola revealed that she was a victim of human trafficking. She explained how she was lured to Mali under false pretenses, with promises of a better life and a job in a pharmacy.

Adeola’s trafficker deceived her, and she was forced into prostitution. She said, “I met someone that introduced traveling to Mali to me. She deceived me with a pharmacy in Mali. I agreed without informing anyone. We travelled by road through Cotonou, Togo, Ghana and other countries for four days. I called the contact I was given when I got to Bamako in Mali. It was when I got to her house that she told me that she has bought me for N250,000 from my sister, and I will work to pay her 1.5 million CFA. She said I was there for prostitution.”

Adeola managed to escape after finding work with a food vendor, which allowed her to break free from the brothel.

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission played a crucial role in her rescue.
