On Friday, 16 May 2025, Africa’s leading youth and pop culture platform, MTV Base, kicked off its highly anticipated Base Day 2025 celebrations with an unforgettable night at Voda Beach, Elegushi. The event, which marked the beginning of a vibrant three-city tour celebrating 20 years of MTV Base championing African music and culture on the global stage, gathered music lovers across Lagos for an unforgettable day of performances and immersive entertainment.
The highly anticipated event featured performances from legendary and emerging Nigerian artists. Veteran acts like Faze and Bigiano shared the stage with rising stars such as Ayo Maff, Ayanfe, Rybeena, and Omizzy, delivering a seamless blend of nostalgia and contemporary vibes. As the sun set, the celebration continued with back-to-back DJ sets from some of Africa’s finest — DJ Picasso, DJ Spin, DJ Dtunes and DJ Venomm— keeping the crowd dancing late into the night with genre-spanning hits and timeless anthems. The curated lineup reflected MTV Base’s commitment to showcasing the best African talent while connecting with a new generation of fans.
