BridgeAfric, a groundbreaking Pan-African platform, has launched in Lagos, Nigeria, with a dedicated commitment to offering investment opportunities for African artists. The inaugural event unfolded at the esteemed Alliance Francais in Ikoyi, Lagos, on November 22, 2023, while the European launch is slated for January 31, 2024, in Paris, France.
Moderated by Ma et Mota from Senegal and OTB from Nigeria, the event convened a diverse audience, including music professionals, corporate executives, African artists, entertainment stakeholders, celebrities, and media from across the continent. It served as a platform to discuss challenges, explore opportunities, and foster collaboration in Africa’s creative industry.
BridgeAfric’s President, Victoria Nkong, described the initiative as revolutionary, emphasizing its role in bringing stakeholders together to build networks and drive the development of Africa’s creative sector. She highlighted BridgeAfric’s mission to support African talents, promote music, and open new markets for artists, thereby drawing in a growing fan base.
Nkong underscored that beyond providing exposure, BridgeAfric facilitates income generation for artists, offering platforms for showcasing music, reaching wider audiences, and exploring various business opportunities such as ticket sales, sponsorships, and merchandising.
The logo, featuring the African map with connecting dots, symbolizes collaboration not only within Africa but globally. Nkong announced that the complete logo would be unveiled during the Paris launch in early 2024.
During a panel discussion on collaboration in developing Africa’s creative industry, industry leaders emphasized the need for partnerships to promote African creativity, improve market access, and create a conducive environment for innovation. Ayo Animashaun, Dare Art Alade, and Wendy Harawa shared insights, stressing the importance of collaboration with corporate organizations.
Wendy described BridgeAfric as the awaited bridge among African artists, fostering increased networks and fan bases through collaboration. Former Lagos state commissioner, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, praised the initiative, stating that BridgeAfric complements AFRIMA’s rich discourses.
The launch event was attended by dignitaries, including PMAN President Pretty Okafor, Kenny Ogungbe, and Harrisong.
