The Federal University of Transportation, Daura, Katsina State, has officially welcomed its pioneer set of 478 students during a recent matriculation ceremony.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by Minister of Transportation Sen. Ahmed Alkali, urged the students to use this unique opportunity to acquire knowledge and contribute to Nigeria’s economic development.
The President emphasized the university’s role in producing Nigerian experts who will utilize policy, law, and industry practices to make the transport sector a key driver of the national economy.
He praised CCECC Nigeria Limited for their support and commitments in building the university as part of their corporate social responsibility.
“As Nigeria continues to laud this giant contribution, it becomes imperative to appeal to CCECC Nigeria Limited to sustain similar commitments as it embarks on the 2nd phase of development project of the University,” President Tinubu said.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Umar Adam Katsayal explained that the university aims to safeguard and sustain the government’s investments in the transportation sector, addressing the need for transport focused education, training, and research.
Notably, CCECC Nigeria Limited has contributed to building take-off classes, laboratories, workshops, and dormitories as part of their corporate social responsibility.
This initiative is part of CCECC’s broader commitment to Nigeria’s development, having operated in the country since 1981 and launched businesses in 29 states. Their contributions to Nigeria’s infrastructure development, including railways, highways, and bridges, have been significant. The university’s establishment is a crucial step in developing local talent for Nigeria’s transportation sector, aligning with CCECC’s goal of promoting sustainable economic and social development.
