Guinness Nigeria has celebrated its 75-year legacy in the country by bringing the iconic Premier League Trophy to Lagos State.
This event marked the final stop of the Guinness Premier League Trophy Tour, which began in Enugu. The tour aimed to appreciate dedicated football fans and bring them closer to the game.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, praised Guinness Nigeria’s commitment to sports development and nation-building. He said, “It is exciting to see Lagos as part of this historic tour. Guinness has long been a part of our story, from being the first destination for its brewery outside the UK, to its decades of social impact. It also feels great to have the real Premier League Trophy in Lagos. This does reinforce something positive about our enthusiasm, and it is gratifying to know that this is specially brought to us by none other but a 75-year-old Guinness Nigeria. As Lagosians, we are excited to identify with this brand as a socially responsible organisation.”
Girish Sharma, Managing Director and CEO of Guinness Nigeria, emphasized the significance of football in Nigerian culture, saying, “Football is more than a game, it’s community, it’s culture. Through this tour, Guinness has placed fans at the heart of the action. Nigeria is one of the most passionate football nations, and we’re proud to celebrate that passion in our 75th year.”
The tour ended with a fan experience event at The Palms Shopping Mall, Victoria Island, where thousands of football enthusiasts interacted with the trophy, enjoyed brand experiences, and participated in interactive zones and live entertainment.
