By Oyinkansayo Wole-Bodunde.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and JAMB Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, have emphasized the need for collaboration to enhance educational infrastructure and create more opportunities for students.

During their meeting, Sanwo-Olu praised Oloyede’s exceptional leadership, saying, “We are proud of what you are doing, Prof. Oloyede, and we are proud of where you’ve taken this Board. Your name stands tall, and we, from Lagos, are happy to recognise you for your excellence.”

Sanwo-Olu stated his administration’s commitment to supporting education development at all levels, highlighting initiatives such as the restructuring of the Lagos State Education Districts and the creation of the Teachers’ Merit Award to recognize outstanding educators.

Oloyede commended Lagos State’s significant contribution to the number of UTME candidates, but noted the few number of CBT centres in the state. He urged the state government to provide land for additional CBT centers especially in areas like Ojo, Ikorodu and Festac.

To address the challenges faced by JAMB in Lagos, Oloyede announced that the Board had acquired a five-floor building in Ogba to serve as a regional office. He emphasized the need for infrastructure support from both the state and federal governments to improve examination capacity and educational resources.

Sanwo-Olu assured Oloyede that the state government would prioritize land provision for new CBT centres and explore additional support for JAMB’s mission. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to education, pledging to work with JAMB and other stakeholders to maintain Lagos’ position at the forefront of educational development in Nigeria.
