A closed-door meeting was held in Abuja, bringing together prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including current and former governors.
The meeting was to address the party’s internal conflicts and defections that threaten its stability before the 2027 elections.
The meeting was hosted by Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Mohammed at the Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro. It aims to promote party unity, resolve leadership disputes, and develop strategies for upcoming elections, including the Anambra governorship election.
Attendees include: FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Governor Ademola Adeleke, Caleb Mutfwang, Seyi Makinde, Ahmadu Fintiri, Former Senate President Bukola Saraki and ex-governors Liyel Imoke, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
The absence of key members like Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Bayelsa’s Douye Diri, Akwa Ibom’s Umo Eno, and Taraba’s Agbu Kefas shows the party’s growing divisions.
The agenda includes addressing National Working Committee disputes, especially regarding the roles of Acting National Chairman Ambassador Iliya Damagum and National Secretary, as well as potential coalition talks with other opposition parties or internal consolidation.
