Exactly 1370 students of the Premier University of Ibadan (UI) that has applied for the Federal Government driven students loan initiative will benefit from the just approved N201,114,650 (Two hundred and one million, one hundred and fourteen thousand, six hundred and fifty naira) by the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to the University of Ibadan.
The sum is to cover the fees of one thousand, three hundred and seventy students (1370) that had previously applied for the loan.
This information was disclosed in a memorandum signed by the Registrar, Mr. Saliu to the Dean of Students, Professor Keye Abiona, dated Monday, 12th August 2024; with copies addressed to the DVC (Academic), Bursar, Provosts, Deans of Faculties, all Directors, Heads of Departments and Faculty Officers.
It was further revealed that the bursary department of the University is currently processing the fund to enable the concerned students print out smart receipts.
It was also stated that students who had already paid levies for the session would be given refunds.
“Any student who is a beneficiary of the NELFUND loan and has already paid levies for the session fee is entitled to a refund,” the memorandum reads.
“To apply for a refund, the student must write through the Dean of Students to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, providing their account details for the refund. A photocopy of the original payment receipt must be attached to each application” the memo added.
The Nigerian Premier university, UI has confirmed the receipt of N201 Million Naira being payment of tuition by NELFUND for students of the school who registered for the novel scheme of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
