The All Progressives Congress (APC) has fired back at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for its response to the recent stampedes at palliatives distribution sites that resulted in loss of life.
APC spokesman Felix Morka accused the PDP of exploiting the tragedy for political gain, rather than offering genuine condolences to the victims’ families.
Morka noted that the PDP’s actions are particularly hypocritical, given their own history of mishandling similar situations. He cited the 2014 Nigerian Immigration Service recruitment exercise, which ended in tragedy under the PDP’s watch, resulting in the deaths of many desperate job seekers.
According to Morka, “Rather than genuinely commiserate with the victims and their families, the PDP chose to politicize the grief of the victims by blaming the stampedes on the All Progressives Congress APC-led administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
He emphasized that the tragedies have brought Nigerians together in mourning and reflection, and that the APC’s thoughts and prayers remain with the victims and their families.
Morka also criticized the PDP’s “callous political chicanery” and “senseless attack” on the APC administration.
“The PDP’s allegations only remind us of its sordid record of maladministration and utter incompetence,” Morka added.
