The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its determination to challenge the outcome of the September 21, 2024, governorship election, which was won by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

As the Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal resumes sitting on Monday, the PDP has vowed to overturn the election results, stating its commitment to reclaiming the mandate it believes was duly given to it by the people of Edo State.

In a communiqué issued after a meeting of the party’s leadership, the PDP expressed its dissatisfaction with the APC-led administration, accusing it of causing setbacks in Edo State. The party emphasized its commitment to the rule of law and constitutional democracy, stressing that peace, security, and order are necessary for the development of Edo State and Nigeria.

The communiqué reads, “The party reaffirmed its resolve to reclaim the mandate duly given to it by the people of Edo State in the last governorship election. It called for the continuous support and prayers of all party faithful and the people of Edo State as PDP and its candidate progress on this arduous journey.”

The PDP also commended its members and supporters for their loyalty and steadfastness, urging them to remain committed to the cause. The party expressed confidence in the leadership of Dr. Tony Aziegbemi and Asue Ighodalo, praising their efforts in promoting unity and progress within the party.
