EFCC Raids Dangote’s Head Office

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, stormed the Lagos Head Office of the Dangote Group.

A source who spoke on condition of anonimity, revealed that the anti-graft agency’s operatives were carrying out a search on forex allocations to the company during the tenure of Godwin Emefiele as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.

“The commission (EFCC) is investigating Dangote Plc and about 51 other big companies. The commission discovered that the allocations were not approved by former President Muhammadu Buhari,” the source claimed.

When contacted over the development, the spokesperson for the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the presence of the anti-graft operatives at the location.

However, he could not confirm the reason for their presence.

“I can confirm that our men are there, but I can’t comment on the reason for their presence there,” Oyewale said.

However, a Dangote employee confirmed that EFCC operatives asked for documents on forex transactions with the CBN.
