Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari Dies in London

Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has passed away in London after a period of illness.

The news was confirmed by Garba Shehu, his former special adviser, who released a statement on Sunday evening.

Former President Buhari died at a clinic in London due to a sickness not disclosed. He had been in London for a few days before his passing.

President Bola Tinubu was one of the first to mourn Buhari’s passing, with a statement from Presidential Spokesman Bayo Onanuga saying that Tinubu has ordered flags to be flown at half-mast as a mark of respect.
He said, “President Tinubu has spoken with Mrs Aishat Buhari, the former President’s widow, and offered his deep condolences.” He also said that the President has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to travel to the UK to accompany Buhari’s body back to Nigeria.

The news of Buhari’s passing has led to widespread condolences from Nigerians and political leaders, reflecting his impact on the country’s history.
