FUOYE Denies Allegations of Illicit Deductions from NELFUND Loans

By Oyinkansayo Wole-Bodunde.

The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has denied allegations of unauthorized deductions from students’ loans provided by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

Over 50 institutions, including FUOYE, were accused by NELFUND and the National Orientation Agency (NOA) of making illicit deductions from students’ institutional fees.

FUOYE’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Foluso Ogunmodede, described the claims as baseless and an attempt to damage the university’s reputation. He emphasized that the institution has not engaged in any exploitation or unauthorized deductions. He said, “Once the payment enters our account and is reconciled with the list of beneficiaries, we will begin refunds immediately even as none of our fees structure is N124k. The allegation is false and nobody has contacted us.”

He added that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has not linked any illicit NELFUND payments to the university’s accounts, and that all financial procedures are followed before payments or refunds are made.
