By Oyinkansayo Wole-Bodunde.

A senior nurse at Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Mrs. Elizabeth Uruakpa, was kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Ogun state on Thursday, September 5.

The 66-year-old was attacked while returning from an evening church service, just as she arrived at her home near the new Ilisan market.

The incident caused panic in the neighborhood, with residents and shop owners quickly closing their doors.

A local resident described the scene, saying, “The woman was coming back from the church in the evening around 7:00pm when the gunmen abducted her. I know her very well, she’s a senior nursing staff with Babcock University Teaching Hospital and a member of the Winners’ Chapel.”

The university’s communication director, Dr. Joshua Suleiman, confirmed the incident. He said he heard about it last night and they are working to get more information.

The Ogun state police command has not yet commented on the incident or released an official report.

The kidnapping of Mrs. Uruakpa has left the community concerned and waiting for news of her safe return.
