Kwara State University is set to welcome over 1,380 new students to its campuses in Ilesha-Baruba and Osi for the upcoming academic year.

The university’s management, led by Pro-Chancellor Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, has been preparing for the arrival of students and staff, and has been engaging with local community leaders to ensure a smooth transition.

During a recent visit to the palaces of the Emir of Ilesha-Baruba and the Oba of Osi, Ambali stated the university’s commitment to starting academic activities on the campuses.

The traditional rulers expressed their joy for the arrival of the students and staff, and pledged to support them in any way they can.

The Emir of Ilesha-Baruba, Prof. Halidu Abubakar, highlighted the economic benefits of having a university campus in his community, citing the presence of the largest livestock market in West Africa.
He encouraged the university to take advantage of this by introducing a Veterinary Sciences program to boost livestock development in the state.

Both traditional rulers praised Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for making the establishment of the campuses a reality, and promised to help integrate the new members of their communities.

With the university’s expansion, the local economy is expected to receive a boost, and the community is looking forward to the positive impact that the students and staff will bring.
