Lagos Community Renames Streets After Olamide, 9ice, King Sunny Ade, Others

The Bariga Local Council Development Area in Lagos has undertaken a street renaming initiative to honor notable figures.

Charly Boy Bus Stop has been renamed Baddo Bus Stop in recognition of Olamide Adedeji, a renowned rapper from Bariga.

This change is part of a larger effort to acknowledge individuals who have elevated the community’s reputation globally.

Hon. Kolade Alabi David, the outgoing council chairman said, “As an administration, we took our time to reflect on a number of our people who have put the name of our local council out on the global map through their respective God-given talents and craft, as well as eminent personalities in our Nation and our beloved state and Local Council who have contributed immensely to the development of our Nation and our State.” He also said, “Today, we will be officially renaming streets in honour of the legacies.”

The Renamed Streets are:

Ilaje Road: now King Sunny Ade Road.

Bariga Road: now Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way.

Community Road, Akoka: now Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Road.

Ajidagan Street: now Olamide Adedeji (Baddo) Street.

Ifeanyi Street: now Abolore Akande (9ice) Street, recognizing the musician 9ice.

Ayodele Street, Ladi-Lak: now Tony Tetuila Street.

Ilojo Crescent, Obanikoro: now Bukayo Saka Street, recognizing the footballer.
