Lagos DSVA condemns Seyi Awolowo’s comment

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Agency (DSVA) has condemned a viral comment made by Seyi Awolowo, a housemate in the ongoing Big Brother reality TV show.

Taking to its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, #Lagosdsva, on Sunday, August 20, the agency said: “We strongly condemn the comments made by Seyi Awolowo in the disturbing video that has surfaced. Such remarks perpetuate harmful attitudes and contribute to a culture of violence and abuse.

“The bystanders’ passive response in the video is also deeply concerning because it only enables such behaviour to persist. It is important for us all, to actively speak up in circumstances such as this. Together, we can work towards creating a society that truly values consent and is free from violence.”

Other former housemates including Mike Edwards and Dorathy Bachor, who served as jurors on the show, have regretted their actions.

Edwards, in a post via his X(formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday, said: “I don’t condone this behavior” while Bachor, in response to a comment that suggested she would have voted him out “wish you evict grandson all this wouldn’t be happening” she said, “Same”.
