In the late 1970s, a young and talented customs officer named Abiodun Modina Aderogba made significant impacts in the Nigerian Customs Service.
Born to Mr. Lamidi Aderogba, a respected Deputy Director at LUTH Idi-Araba, Abiodun Modina Aderogba joined the service in 1977 and quickly gained popularity among her colleagues with her exceptional work ethic and charm.
She worked in the printing section at the Old Harvey Road headquarters in Yaba, Lagos, and she impressed her peers and superiors alike.
Abiodun Modina’s colleagues admired her so much that she was nominated unopposed to represent Lagos State in a nationwide pageantry competition. In 1980, she won the title of Miss Customs, and she reigned with poise and elegance. During her reign, she traveled to the United Kingdom, where she earned a City and Guilds certification in catering. She also enjoyed the perks of her royal status, including a chauffeur-driven car.
After her reign, Abiodun Modina returned to her job and friends. In 1988, she married Engineer Akinola Oluwole Johnson, and they had their first child in 1989. Together, they raised five children, enjoying life as a family in Lagos, Minna, and Abuja. Today, Mrs. Abiodun Akinola lives in Abuja, Nigeria, surrounded by the love and memories of her remarkable life.
