“Nigeria was never meant to exist”- Burna boy.

By Oyinkansayo Wole-Bodunde.

In a recent interview with Tidal, Burna Boy shared his thoughts on Nigeria’s current state.

He likened the country to a mere business venture exploited by external forces.

He emphasized that Nigeria’s struggles started from poor governance and foreign influences which have led to the suffering of its people.

The singer highlighted the country’s complex history, explaining that Nigeria was never intended to exist as a nation. Instead, he described it as the “Royal Niger Company,” a entity created by the British to extract resources for their benefit.

He noted that the country’s amalgamation was a result of this company’s interests, with the winners being those who bought and sold the land, while the people were left as “collateral damage.”

Burna Boy’s words painted a vivid picture of Nigeria’s bad past and its ongoing struggles, sparking a necessary conversation about the country’s identity and future.
