Nigerian singer Tems has cancelled her upcoming concert in Kigali, Rwanda, stating concerns over the increasing conflict between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
Tems went on Instagram to apologize for initially promoting the show, scheduled for March 22, 2025, without being aware of the conflict. She said, “So I recently promoted my show in Rwanda without realizing there is an ongoing conflict between Rwanda and Congo. I never intended to be insensitive to real world issues, and I sincerely apologize if this came across that way.”
The cancellation comes during reports of tensions between Rwanda and the DRC, with Rwanda accused of backing the M23 rebel group, which recently captured Goma, the capital of North Kivu province.
