Ololade Ayelabola, a talented student from the University of Lagos, has made history by setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance walked by a model. On October 1, Ayelabola embarked on an epic 120km catwalk journey at the university’s indoor sports centre, surpassing her initial target and completing an astonishing 130.62km.

Ayelabola’s remarkable feat broke the previous record held by Roberta Brown and Lorraine McCourt, who walked 114.4km in Dublin, Ireland, in 1983. Her achievement is subject to verification and confirmation by Guinness World Records.

With her record-breaking walk, Ayelabola aimed to showcase Nigeria’s vibrant fashion industry and challenge stereotypes in the modeling world.

“I’m not walking for myself alone,” Ayelabola shared on Instagram. “I’m walking for many models who have been limited by stereotypes and standards set by rigid systems. I’m also walking to showcase the creativity of the Nigerian fashion industry.”

Ayelabola’s determination and passion have inspired many, promoting body positivity, diversity in fashion, and Nigerian creativity.
