The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board(JAMB) has set the minimum scores for admission into various tertiary institutions for the 2025/2026 academic session.
For Universities the minimum is 150, For Polytechnics the minimum is 100, For Colleges of Education the minimum is 100, For Colleges of Nursing Sciences the minimum is 140.
The scores were agreed upon by stakeholders, including heads of tertiary institutions, during the 2025 JAMB Policy Meeting in Abuja.
The board said, “The minimum admissible scores for admissions for the next academic session have been fixed at 150 for universities, 100 for polytechnics, 100 for colleges of education, and 140 for colleges of nursing sciences by the stakeholders.”
While JAMB sets the minimum scores, individual institutions can set their own higher cut-off marks, but not lower than the national minimum. This allows Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges to determine their own admission standards.
The establishment of minimum cut-off marks aims to balance academic standards and accessibility to tertiary education, ensuring uniformity in the system and guiding institutions in their admission decisions.
