The Future Is Here – GNT Initiative, Corona Secondary School Collaboration Empowers Next Generation Of Students In Arts
The theatrical landscape witnessed a breathtaking fusion of seasoned professionalism and raw youthful talent as the Generation Next Theatre (GNT) Initiative, powered by TheatreMania Africa, took over Corona Secondary School (CSS), Agbara, on June 4th and 5th, 2026, culminating in a spectacular performance of the stage play, “Whispers 4.0.”
The two-day creative extravaganza served as an artistic bootcamp where Nollywood stars and creative academics mentored secondary school students, closing the curtain with a performance that left parents, arts enthusiasts, and guests completely awestruck.
The event began on Thursday, June 4th, with a high-energy panel session. Moderated by the charismatic Alayande Stephen T.(Producer/Creative Entrepreneur), the panel featured industry heavyweights Dr. Sam Uche Anyamele fta.(Nollywood Actor/Lecturer) , Bukola Thomas(Nollywood Actor/Voice Over Artist) , Dr. Ochuko Odesa ( Chartered Accountant with PAFA), Julius Olaolu Oyekanmi( Tech Guru), Tomiwa Songonuga (Reality Show Celeb) and Mr. M.D. Omisore(Education Consultant).
They did not just speak; they “gingered,” inspired, and ventured into the deep realities of the craft, igniting a fiery passion within the students.
Friday, June 5th, translated that passion into pure stage magic. Following energetic opening acts by the CSS Agbara Music Unit and the celebrated Black Image Theatre, the stage was set for “Whispers 4.0.” In an extraordinary display of ensemble acting, the GNT Mentors shared the stage with the student members of the CSS Agbara Actors Guild.
The production values, emotional depth, and delivery left the packed auditorium completely spellbound, earning a prolonged standing ovation.
Speaking on his experience working with the students, veteran Nollywood Actor and Lecturer, Dr. Sam Uche Anyamele fta., remarked:
“The energy inside the Corona Secondary School auditorium was electric. As an academic and an actor, it is always a privilege to guide young minds, but these students genuinely surprised us. They absorbed directing notes with astonishing speed. ‘Whispers 4.0’ became a beautiful dialogue between generations, the experience of the mentors blending perfectly with the vibrant, unadulterated passion of the students. Theatre in Africa has a very bright future.”
The successful staging of “Whispers 4.0” reinforces TheatreMania Africa’s status as a premier vanguard for cultural preservation and artistic revival among African youth.
Renowned Nollywood Actress and GNT Mentor, Bukola Thomas, added her thoughts on the emotional impact of the project:
“I am still emotional thinking about how these kids stepped up on Day 2. On Day 1, we challenged them to conquer their fears and own their space. By Friday, during ‘Whispers 4.0,’ they didn’t just own the stage; they commanded it. Seeing the joy and pride in the eyes of their parents and teachers in the audience was the ultimate reward. This is exactly what GNT is about, building unstoppable confidence through theatre.”
