On March 25th, 2026, the atmosphere was filled with excitement, pride, and a deep sense of achievement as new members and returnees were officially welcomed during the Electronic Media Content Owners Association of Nigeria (EMCOAN) Induction Ceremony 2026. The event marked a significant milestone, celebrating dedication, growth, and the beginning of a new professional journey for inductees on particular and the association in general.

The registration area also served as a networking point, allowing inductees to meet one another, share experiences, and build connections even before the main ceremony commenced.

The ceremony commenced on a solemn and uplifting note with an opening prayer delivered by Prince Deji Irawo, setting a reflective and purposeful tone for the day.
Guiding the flow of the event was renowned media personality Patrick Doyle, who served as the Master of Ceremonies. His eloquence, charisma, and professionalism ensured a seamless and engaging experience for all attendees.
The President of EMCOAN, Adeniji Omirin, delivered a welcome address, emphasizing the importance of unity, structure, and professionalism within the electronic media space. He highlighted EMCOAN’s commitment to empowering content owners and creating a sustainable ecosystem for digital media practitioners.
This was followed by opening remarks from veteran comedian and industry leader Opa Williams, who underscored the need for innovation, collaboration, and forward-thinking within the industry.
A concise two-minute documentary clip was presented, offering attendees a clear overview of EMCOAN’s vision, mission, and contributions to the media landscape. The visual presentation reinforced the association’s role as a unifying body for content owners and a driver of industry standards.
With the slogan “United By Content, Driven By Innovation” seems to be the new mantra that resonated with EMCOAN via a lot of branding materials and elements around the hall.
Delivering remarks on behalf of the Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission(NBC), Mr Charles Ebuebu was Mr. Raphael Akpan. He delivered the address to the audience, reaffirming regulatory support and the importance of compliance, innovation, and collaboration amongst stakeholders. He spoke about the Commission ‘s support to EMCOAN and other important stakeholders in the Industry.
A key highlight of the event was a presentation showcasing the achievements of Nigeria Electronic Media Content Exhibition and Awards (NEMCEA) from 2022 to 2025. The report detailed milestones in advocacy, industry development, and capacity building demonstrating tangible progress and setting the stage for future growth. It also highlighted the three important components of the NEMCEA project being Content Market, Conference and Awards for the Industry.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr. (Mrs.) Emma Akande ( Director, Regulations, ARCON) on behalf of Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON).
The keynote emphasized the evolving dynamics of advertising and content regulation in Nigeria, highlighting the need for creators to align with industry standards while maximizing opportunities within the digital economy.
An important significant moment during the ceremony was the Investiture of two key notable and distinguished personalities as EMCOAN Grand Patron and Patron respectively.
* Mr. Wale Adenuga (MFR) – Chairman, Wake Adenuga Productions (WAP) Limited as the EMCOAN Grand Patron
* Yinka Adebayo (Executive Director, Documents, OMG WeCa) as the EMCOAN Patron.
The investiture activation was conducted by Dr. Opa Williams, where he recognized the immense contributions of these two figures to the media industry and their continued support for content development in Nigeria.
Delivering the Industry Remark, Mr. Yinka Adebayo provided thought-provoking insights that resonated deeply with the audience.
He emphasized a critical reality: “What brings money is not what they say, but what they do.”

He further explored what makes content bankable, stressing the importance of:

* Structure: Building organized systems within the media space
* Acknowledgement: Recognizing and valuing content creators
* Content Gap: Identifying and filling missing narratives in the industry
* Support for Terrestrial Stations: Strengthening traditional media platforms
A powerful quote by Andrew S. Grove resonated strongly: “Only the paranoid survive.”
Another thought-provoking statement captured the essence of growth and awareness: “You can’t be seen until you learn to see.”

The core highlight of the event was the formal induction and oath-taking of EMCOAN members. This segment symbolized not just membership, but a commitment to uphold professionalism, ethical standards, and excellence in content creation. The newly pronounced Hravd Patron conducted the exercise and congratulated members generally.

Certificates of membership, Mufflers, Laodl pin were presented to members as they took turn taking pictures while receiving their membership package.

EMCOAN Grand Patron

It marked the beginning of a new chapter for inductees as recognized stakeholders in Nigeria’s electronic media ecosystem.
The event concluded with closing remarks and a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Alayande Stephen T., the Chairman of the Planning Committee and the General Secretary, EMCOAN.
In his remarks, he appreciated the contributions of the BOT, EXCOS, members, speakers, Special Guests of Honour, Planning Committee members, Media Organisations and attendees who made the event a success.
