Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has suggested that employers should adopt a system similar to JAMB’s, where results are sent directly from the examining body to the employer, rather than relying on candidates to present their own results.
This approach would help prevent the falsification of results, a problem that JAMB has encountered in the past.
In recent years, JAMB has caught several candidates cheating on their exams or falsifying their results. One notable case was that of a student named Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma, who was found to have forged her outstanding result. This case highlights the need for a secure system to prevent result manipulation.
Professor Oloyede made his suggestion at a recent management retreat, where he emphasized JAMB’s commitment to transparency and integrity. He pointed out that JAMB’s operations are closely monitored by the national assembly and that the organization has been recognized for its strict examination processes and innovative record keeping systems.
By adopting a system like JAMB’s, employers can ensure that the results they receive are genuine and this reduces the risk of fraud and ensures fairness in the hiring process.
