It is with immense joy, profound gratitude, and a high sense of duty that I welcome you all to the 5th edition of the Nigerian Electronic Media Content Exhibition and Awards (NEMCEA 2026).
Five years ago, we set out with a clear vision: to establish an enduring, world-class marketplace and platform where content creators, broadcasters, tech innovators, and media owners could meet, collaborate, connect and trade value. Today, standing in this room filled with the finest minds in Nigeria electronic media space, I can say with confidence that the vision remains vibrant, growing stronger with every edition.
This 5th milestone edition is not just an anniversary; it is a testament to the resilience, creativity, and boundless potential of our electronic media industry.
THE LANDSCAPE AND OUR COLLECTIVE IMPERATIVE
We gather at a critical juncture in the history of broadcasting and content production across Africa. The line between traditional television and digital distribution continues to blur. Audiences are more dynamic, technology is evolving rapidly, and the demand for authentic, high-quality, local content has never been higher.
As content creators and media custodians, our responsibility goes beyond entertainment. We hold the key to narrative power. We shape culture, influence public policy, inform societies, and drive economic growth. However, this power comes with the urgent need for structural alignment, we must embrace robust local content quotas, fully realize the benefits of the Digital Switch Over, and create sustainable economic models that protect creators while serving audiences.
We once again congratulate the Federal Government and the National Broadcast Commission ( NBC) in the giant strides of the Digital Switch O er ( DSO) but honestly, the work is just beginning.
NEMCEA was built specifically to solve these challenges. It exists to bridge the gap between creative brilliance and commercial viability. Over the next two days, this floor will host conversations, exhibitions, and partnerships that will shape the trajectory of Nigeria Electronic media for years to come.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT NEMCEA 2026
