Peter “Dodomayana” Rufai, legendary goalkeeper of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, has passed away following a prolonged illness. He was 61.

Rufai was born August 24, 1963, in Lagos. His illustrious 20-year career saw him represent top clubs across Europe—Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain—and earned him 65 caps for Nigeria. He starred in the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cups and played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s 1994 AFCON victory.
