The management of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) has shut down the operations of Pen Press, a campus news outlet.

The management showed concerns over a recent article that allegedly damaged the institution’s reputation.

In a letter dated August 14, the Dean of Students Affairs ordered the immediate suspension of Pen Press’s activities, stating that the article “UDUS Students Face Wrath of Poor Drainage” raised significant concerns within the university administration.

The university accused the publication of failing to adhere to journalistic standards and university policies and of publishing misleading information that could harm the institution’s reputation.

The suspension requires Pen Press to cease all publications, distributions, and news gathering activities until further notice.

University officials, including the spokesperson and Deputy Dean of Students’ Affairs, refused to comment on the matter, requesting a formal request for a response.
