Nollywood Legend, Okey Ogunjiofor Loses Father

A Nollywoood Legend and filmmaker, Mr Okechukwu Ogunjiofor, also referred to Okey Ogunjiofo has lost his dear father, Chief Matthias Chukwuemeka Ogunjiofor, to the cold hands of death.

Confirming the report in a chat with newsmen, the legendary filmmaker who kick started the journey of Nollywood in 1992, with the monster hit Living In Bondage, said: “Azuh, I consider you my friend hence, I write you personally to announce the passing into glory of my father, Chief Matthias Chukwuemeka Ogunjiofor…”

Speaking further, the multiple award winning Nollywood icon, added that the farewell ceremony for his departed father had been fixed for November 23, 2023, in their village, in Imo State, south east, Nigeria.

He said, “Other information like invitation, poster and programme of events will be shared in the coming days. My father lived a great and memorable life. He died at the ripe age of 94. So, even though we are sad and mourning his demise, his farewell ceremony is going to be a celebration of life.”

The patriarch of the Ogunjiofor family is survived by four sons and a daughter, including many grand children.

Okey Ogunjipfor who is popularly referred to Father of Nollywood and Senior Advocate of Nollywood (SAN) has been very active as a pioneer member of the JURY of the just concluded Nigerian Electronic Media Content Exhibition and Awards(NEMCEA) 2023.
