A Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt has denied a request by sacked PDP executives to appeal a judgment that removed them from office.
The executives, led by Chukwuemeka Aaron, had filed a motion seeking leave to appeal the judgment as an interested party, stating their stake in the outcome.
The judgment, delivered on January 13, 2025, by Justice Stephen Jumbo, nullified the PDP congresses that produced the executives, deemed loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. William Fialasoika and 24 others had filed the suit against the PDP, challenging the validity of the congresses.
Justice Jumbo dismissed the motion, stating that the PDP, as the defendant, had already filed an appeal against the judgment. The court held that this development rendered the motion unnecessary. The sacked executives, including Aaron, Oye Fubara Igenewari, and Thankgod Beke, had sought to intervene in the appeal, but the court ruled against them.
