Lagos Set to Host AFRIMA 2025

The African Union Commission and the International Committee of AFRIMA have confirmed Lagos as the host city for the 2025 All Africa Music Awards.

This announcement was made on Wednesday at an exclusive event held at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The AFRIMA 2025 schedule was also revealed there.

The event is scheduled to take place from November 25 to 30, 2025 and the theme is “Unstoppable Africa.” Angela Martins, Director for Social Development, Culture, and Sport at the AU, celebrated Lagos for its thriving music scene. She said, “Lagos reflects the true spirit of African music – rhythm, creativity, and vibrant energy. The city offers the right mix of modern infrastructure, hospitality, strong media reach, and logistics needed to host an event of this magnitude.”

The announcement was made jointly by Martins and Jannet Hadadi, a seasoned music executive with expertise in music distribution and publishing across North Africa and the Middle East. This edition of AFRIMA is expected to surpass previous ones. The statistics include:

Over 1,600 nominees and their teams attending.
More than 60,000 visitors and delegates expected.
A production crew exceeding 2,300 members.
An estimated global broadcast audience of over 400 million viewers.

The 2025 AFRIMA promises to be an amazing celebration of African culture, uniting the continent’s top musicians, upcoming artists, industry experts, international media, diplomats, and fans worldwide.

The nomination submission period will be from May 27, 2025, to August 8, 2025, providing artists across Africa with an opportunity to submit their work for consideration.
