It is no longer a news that Liverpool Football Club have emerged as the winner of the English Premier League (EPL) this season, making them winner of the 20th title, equaling Manchester United record of 20.
The rivalry between the two clubs over the years has been something of an enviable status, while some Red Devil fans and other embittered football pundits undermined LFC 19th League title win under Jurgen Klopp in 2019/20 season during Covid-19 and labeling them a Covid champion, no excuse can be tenable this time around for a resounding and emphatic display in the last 34 EPL games to be crowned champion. There are still 4 more games to be spared yet a 82 points tally with whooping 15 points lead over 2nd position Arsenal is enough to keep all naysayers mouth shut this time around.
A well deserved congratulations to Arne Slot, the players, FSG, the Management and all the Liverpool fans globally.
“It was always Liverpool,” read the banner on the Kop. So it proved, as Arne Slot’s side marched to the club’s record-equalling 20th title in style.
The Kop will party long, hard and by unloading all the passion of a 35-year wait to savour winning the Premier League after being roared on in a carnival Anfield atmosphere – such joyous scenes denied them in 2020.
They dismantled Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 at Anfield to lay claim to the 20th League title.
Klopp tribute from Slot
Amongst the jubilation, Arne Slot was eager to credit his predecessor for the role he played in building the foundations for the title win. “I want to send my appreciation to Jürgen,” Slot proclaimed. Slot then went on to lead a rendition of ‘Jürgen Klopp’ in the spot where the former manager did for him a year ago. An imitation of Klopp’s signature fist bumping then followed.
