Naija Poetry Fest is teaming up with Alliance Française Lagos to host the August edition of Poetic Rendezvous. It is a dynamic gathering of young creatives, thinkers, and artists.
This event is themed “Youth Voices” and it aims to amplify the voices and stories of African youth through various art forms.
This event is set to take place on Saturday, August 23, 2025 by 2 p.m. It will take place at Alliance Française de Lagos, Mike Adenuga Centre, Ikoyi.
At the event, there would be open mic poetry for young poets to express themselves. There would also be art exhibitions where pieces that reflect the African youth experience would be showcased. Storytelling is another important activity that would take place at the event. Stories that inspire and challenge would be shared. There would be a vibrant mix of sounds that resonate with the youth. Lastly, there would be panel discussions exploring the power of art to shift mindsets and inspire action.
According to Lanre Sonde, cultural curator and poet, “In this day and age, young Africans cannot afford to be silent. Poetry and art are not just for entertainment. They are our weapons, our mirrors and our megaphones. This gathering is about giving the next generation the courage and space to speak their truth.”
The organizers of the event promise that there would be a warm and electric atmosphere filled with creativity, connection, and inspiration. The event promises to be a celebration of unity, creativity, and the courage to speak out.
Naija Poetry Fest has become a major platform for poets, visual artists, musicians, and thinkers, attracting talent from across the country and beyond. Its open mic sessions have launched many new talents, and this month’s Poetic Rendezvous is set to be an unforgettable experience.
