SPEECH BY MR. ADENIJI OMIRIN, PRESIDENT OF EMCOAN
At the Opening of NEMCEA 2025: Nigeria Electronic Media Content Exhibitions and Awards at Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos – September 16th 2025
Distinguished guests, partners, colleagues, ladies and gentlemen,
It is with great joy and pride that I welcome you all to the 4th edition of the Nigeria Electronic Media Content Exhibitions and Awards, NEMCEA 2025.
From its very first edition, NEMCEA has stood out as more than an event. It is a marketplace of ideas, a hub for collaboration, and a celebration of excellence in the Nigerian media and creative economy. Each year, we have seen how bringing together stakeholders from television, film, radio, advertising, digital platforms, and media buying opens up new opportunities, strengthens relationships, and pushes our industry forward.
This year, our central theme is “Sustainable Content Creation in a Fragmented Media Space.” This theme speaks to the reality we face today – an industry where audiences are scattered across many platforms, yet the demand for quality local content remains strong. Our task is to find ways to create, distribute, and monetize content in a way that ensures sustainability for creators and value for audiences.
One of the highlights of this year’s event is the introduction of the AI in Production Masterclass, in partnership with Ingro Systems. This bold addition to our program reflects EMCOAN’s belief that our industry must not be left behind in the global digital transformation. With the help of Mr. John Orakwe, a globally recognized AI strategist and educator, this masterclass will open our eyes to how Artificial Intelligence can enhance video editing, scriptwriting, graphics, cinematography, audience engagement, and more — while also reminding us of the ethical considerations that must guide its use.
At EMCOAN, we remain fully committed to protecting content owners, promoting local content, and building a stronger creative economy in Nigeria. NEMCEA is one of the ways we live out that commitment, and we are very proud of how far it has come in just four editions.
As we begin this year’s journey together, I call on all stakeholders — content creators, broadcasters, advertisers, agencies, policymakers, and investors — to take full advantage of the opportunities here. Network, share knowledge, strike partnerships, and above all, let us continue to build an industry that entertains, educates, empowers, and drives economic growth for our nation.
On behalf of our BOT Chairman, Dr Opa Williams, and the entire EMCOAN family, I thank you for your support and presence. May this year’s NEMCEA inspire us all to dream bigger, collaborate better, and take Nigerian media to greater heights.
Thank you, and God bless.
