Out of the six nominations announced by the organisers of Brampton International Nollywood Film Festival for Owen Gee’s new Documentary Series titled ” Nigeria Laughs”, the proud Producer of the Documentary Series announced that they won three categories. This is indeed a testament to the hardwork and all the efforts out into the Documentary Series.
The categories won by “Nigeria Laughs” in the recently held festival in Brampton, Canada between 3rd and 5th, October, 2024 are (1) Best Film Nollywood (2) Best Comedy and (3) Best Producer.
In the words of Owen Gee Osemwengie, the elated Award winning producer/ Actor/Entertainer said on his Facebook page where he also shared some pictures “Hmmm words fail me right now but I’ll be as coherent as I possibly can. We won 3 Awards at the Brampton international Nollywood Film Festival BINFF Brampton Canada @binffestival, I had a vision 9 years ago and we commenced recording 5 years ago to do this documentary ‘NIGERIA LAUGHS 🇳🇬’ because I felt the need to chronicle the transition, achievements and undeniable artistry the comedy industry had generously contributed to the entertainment industry in Nigeria.
This master piece was a child of necessity that gave us sleepless nights because the comedy pioneers were not getting their flowers and the tunes of the comedy heroes remained unsung .It took guts and grill to make this happen.
I wish to unambiguously express my profound gratitude to the entire team that were so so so invested in this project as you worked tirelessly to make our project world class. I also want to appreciate all the comedians that took out time to grant no holds barred interviews on this project, They are the real MVPs.
This whole experience has taught me that hope nurtured can truly survive anything” he submitted.
