Prof Mabawanku Laid to Rest in Grand Affair

The funeral of Prof (Mrs) Iyabo Mabawanku was a grand affair. It was held in Ibadan on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

The University of Ibadan, where she worked, paid tribute to her with a three-day mourning period. The burial was a celebration of her life, with friends, family, and well-wishers gathering to pay their respects.

Olumide Mabawanku, her eldest son, thanked everyone for their support, saying, “We will always remember the prayers and words of encouragement from everyone. We appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts.”

The event was a lively one, with guests enjoying good food, drinks, and music at the International Conference Center, UI. The night was filled with dancing and celebration as they bid farewell to Prof Mabawanku.

Prof (Mrs) Iyabo Mabawanku is a former lecturer, who taught at the Department of Library, Archival and Information Studies. She left behind children and grandchildren. Her burial was a fitting tribute to her life, with tributes and a service of songs held in her honor.
