Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage explained why she doesn’t sign new artists.
In a conversation with Forbes Africa, Tiwa said she is not good at handling the challenges that come with guiding young musicians.
Tiwa thinks it is better for her to create a music school where new artists can learn and grow. Then, they can get signed by a record label that can provide the support they need.
Tiwa said, “Everyone always asks ‘when are you going to sign an artist?’” She also said, “I don’t think I have the gift to sign artists because they are stressful. I could just wake up from sleep and my artist is trending for something else. But I have the gift to help, which is why I’m trying to have a music school, where artists can go and later sign to a label that can actually help.”
