Ubi Franklin, a prominent music executive, has talked on the dynamics between Afrobeats’ “Big 3”, Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy.
On a recent episode of the Afropolitan podcast, Franklin shared his thoughts on the possibility of a collaboration between the three of them.
According to him, the competitive nature of their positions in the industry makes a joint project challenging. He mentioned the rivalry between top banks in Nigeria, highlighting that such competition is common in every industry.
However, Franklin said that the competition between the artists doesn’t translate to personal animosity. He mentioned that Davido doesn’t speak negatively about his peers, and he believes the same applies to Wizkid and Burna Boy. He said, “I will speak for Davido, I have never heard him for once said something ill about Wizkid or Burna Boy, and I’m sure it’s the same for them. But the environment they are will make it difficult for them to work together.”
