Yomi Fabiyi Celebrates Baba Ijesha’s Release

By Oyinkansayo Wole-Bodunde.

Yomi  Fabiyi reacted to Baba Ijesha’s release after the Court of Appeal overturned his conviction.

In a statement on Saturday, he expressed satisfaction that the appellate court cleared Baba Ijesha of defilement charges. He said that the original case was a result of “sentiments and misconceptions.”

Fabiyi also alleged that the case was mishandled, and accused specific individuals of pursuing personal agendas. He called for a reassessment of those factors. He also said that the setting of the case was not properly arranged.

While reaffirming that his advocacy does not excuse sexual abuse and that his human‑rights organization opposes all child exploitation, he emphasized his focus on perceived procedural defects and inconsistencies during the probe and trial. He said, “Prerequisites for the actions taken were flawed. We will continue to stand against selective justice and abuse of fundamental rights.”
