Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party’s candidate for governor in Edo State, has promised that if elected, he will not be controlled by any powerful politician or benefactor.
He made this promise on a TV show, saying that he will only answer to the people of Edo State.
Akpata believes that this is a key reason why people can trust the Labour Party, as they are not obligated to any special interests.
Akpata also highlighted that he is different from other candidates who are backed by former or current governors. He emphasized that he is not answerable to any political godfather and that his campaign is funded by himself and friends who believe in him.
He also addressed rumors that he is secretly working with Governor Godwin Obaseki or the APC, calling such claims “stupid conspiracy theories.” Akpata stated that he is funding his own campaign and has the support of friends who share his vision for a better Edo State.
