Naija Poetry Fest Hosts Inspiring World Earth Day Edition of Poetic Rendezvous in Lagos

Naija Poetry Fest successfully hosted the April 2026 edition of its monthly creative gathering, Poetic Rendezvous, in celebration of World Earth Day precisely on Saturday April 25th, 2026.

The event took place at the Alliance Française de Lagos, Mike Adenuga Centre, Ikoyi, bringing together poets, environmental advocates, storytellers, and art enthusiasts for an engaging and impactful experience.

Themed “Saving the World With Our Attitude,” the event created a dynamic platform for dialogue around climate change, sustainability, and practical steps individuals and communities can take to protect the environment. Discussions throughout the gathering emphasized the urgent need for responsible living and collective action in preserving the planet for future generations.

Convener, Godson Osarenren, highlighted key facts about the Earth, noting its estimated age of 4.5 billion years and the distribution of its surface—71 percent water and 29 percent land. He stressed the importance of safeguarding the Earth as a shared heritage, underscoring that environmental responsibility cannot be overemphasized.

One of the major highlights of the event was a captivating ecological poetry performance by the Holyspice group, whose presentations reflected both the beauty of nature and the consequences of environmental neglect. The audience was also deeply moved by guest speaker Chidera Awurum, Team Lead at For All Mankind Foundation (FAMFTREE), who delivered a compelling piece titled “The Earth is Speaking… Are We Listening?” Her performance challenged attendees to rethink humanity’s relationship with the natural world.

The event further encouraged meaningful networking and exchange of ideas, with participants including Mr. Ehi, Miss Luli, and Mr. Sylvester contributing valuable perspectives on ecological awareness and community responsibility.

To conclude the event, attendees participated in an interactive art session facilitated by Mr. Adeniran, where eco-themed artworks were created. Participants were seated in a circular formation, symbolizing the Earth and the unity required to protect it.

This World Earth Day edition of Poetic Rendezvous once again demonstrated Naija Poetry Fest’s commitment to blending art, education, and social impact, reinforcing its role as a platform for creative expression and environmental consciousness.
