Oyinkansayo Wole-Bodunde

Aare Afe Babalola, founder of Afe Babalola University, criticized the Federal Government’s distribution of palliatives. He said that it is turning Nigerians into beggars.

He suggested that the 1963 constitution be re-enacted by parliament without the need for a constitutional conference.

Babalola stated that the recent protests against hunger were sincere and he urged the government to listen to the people.

He also stated that it is the government’s responsibility to ensure the welfare of its citizens but, it has failed. It has failed to provide a safe environment for people to work and feed themselves.

He said that sharing food items as palliatives is not a solution and it only leads dependency. He urged the government to create opportunities for people to work and earn a living.

Babalola talked about how the old national anthem was assented by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu without a conference. He said that by the same token, the 1963 constitution should be re-enacted by the parliament.
