Wizkid’s Musical Muse: Women

By Oyinkansayo Wole-Bodunde

Wizkid, Nigerian singer, has shared what sparks his creativity.

For the afrobeats sensation, whose real name is Ayodeji Balogun, women are the bedrock of his musical inspiration.

As he passionately declared on X, “Women inspire music! Gods on earth.”

This revelation comes as no surprise, given Wizkid’s likeness for crafting romantic tunes dedicated to women. His latest album, “Morayo,” is a heartfelt dedication to his late mother, Morayo Jane Balogun.

“Morayo” has achieved success, shattering records on Spotify. With 48 million streams in just six days, Wizkid has beaten Tyla’s previous record of 46.4 million Spotify streams.

“Morayo” has set a new benchmark for the largest opening week for an African album on Spotify, gaining an impressive 52.8 million streams.
