By Oyinkansayo Wole-Bodunde.

The American Corner collaborated with NaijaPoetryFest, and brought together poets, performers, and young creatives for an engaging event exploring themes of giving and compassion.

Godson Osarenren, the festival’s convener, started the session with a heartfelt talk on the importance of generosity in community life, setting a reflective tone for the evening.

2 WYTH, aka The Gbedu Poet, guided the programme, blending performances that highlighted kindness, care, and the healing power of art.

Poets shared moving verses inspired by acts of charity and mutual support, followed by an emotional film screening of “Don’t Bite the Apple,” a poetic short film by 2 WYTH. The energy shifted with Kachi’s dynamic dance performance, adding a vibrant layer to the event.

Dr. Calvin from the US praised the initiative’s cultural impact, joining stakeholders from around the world in commending its community focus. Ms. Tina, Assistant Director of American Corner, contributed a poem and thoughtful remarks, while Tosin Jibodu, an entertainment and legal professional, called the gathering “socially connective and culturally significant.”

The event wrapped up with open discussions, sparking dialogue, empathy, and stronger creative connections within the community.
