The Pan African Writers’ Association (PAWA) has given its official backing to the Battle of Stanzas literary festival and the Stanzas from the Bronze Capital poetry anthology.
PAWA’s Secretary General, Dr. Wale Okediran, praised the organizers, Naija Poetry Fest and the Benin Writers’ Society, for their innovative efforts to promote poetry in Nigeria. He commended their dedication to creating platforms that inspire and showcase Africa’s rich literary talent.

The event is set to take place on Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 10:00a.m. – 3:00p.m. It will take place at Edo Innovation Hub, Airport Road, Benin City.
The Battle of Stanzas promises to be an amazing event, bringing together the best of Nigerian poetry and spoken word. With PAWA’s endorsement, the festival is set to create new energy and mark a significant milestone in Nigeria’s literary journey.
Dr. Okediran said that the organizers have shown a “trailblazing commitment to expanding the frontiers of poetry in Nigeria” and a dedication to “creating platforms that inspire, nurture, and showcase Africa’s vibrant literary voices.”
The festival is a celebration of African literature, culture, and the power of words, making it a historic event that will leave a lasting impact.
