Bobrisky Sues VDM Over Defamatory Audio Clip

By Oyinkansayo Wole-Bodunde.

Nigerian internet personality Bobrisky has taken legal action against critic VeryDarkMan (VDM) over an audio clip posted on social media.

The recording allegedly captures Bobrisky’s voice revealing a N15 million bribe to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials to drop money laundering charges and implicating Nigerian Correctional Service officials in allowing him to serve his six-month jail term outside prison.

Bobrisky denies the allegations, claiming the voice recording is Artificial Intelligence (AI)-generated. His legal team has issued a formal demand to VeryDarkMan.

In a letter shared on Bobrisky’s Facebook page, his lawyers stated, “We demand, on behalf of our client, a written apology published in two national daily newspapers, a video recording of your apology to our client shared on all your social media platforms, a commitment to refrain from reporting or publishing defamatory content against our client, and the payment of N1,000,000,000 in damages within 24 hours of this letter.”

VeryDarkMan’s post has sparked controversy, with Bobrisky seeking swift action to protect his reputation. The development highlights tensions between public figures and critics in Nigeria’s social media landscape.
